2017 – MOVIE POSTER DESIGN CONCEPTS – 8" x 12" INTERSTELLAR – 27" x 40" 1984

The first pair of movie posters shown incorporate some of the most memorable clips from the blockbuster, Interstellar. Reinvented in a simplistic and abstracted manner, I used typography systems such as radial symmetry instead of the traditional bilateral. A reoccurring phrase used in the movie was an excerpt of Dylan Thomas's "Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night." I wanted to utilize this in my renditions of the movie posters for this film because I thought it was as interesting as the imagery and would encourage viewers to delve deeper into what this movie may be about.

The following movie poster is based off of the book and film Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell. The design emphasizes the bleak, homogenous themes rather than displaying it as a love story. Every bit of advertising that was done for the film rendition of this story seemed to paint it as a romance more than commentary on the threats of totalitarianism and I wanted to show it for what it actually was.
